The End is Near

Last week was bad to the bone. And not necessarily in a good way. Pretty much from sun up to sun down Mon-Sat, I painted. And I painted. And I painted. And Jon did all the other stuff that I can’t do. And we still are not finished!! Yesterday and today have been off days for me (from the other house) for various reasons but I will pick the brush back up tomorrow. We’re pretty wiped out and next Thursday will be a big relief for us. Even if it will be a bitter-sweet one. Regardless of wether we close on this house this Friday or next Thursday, we will bid farewell to our home on 7th Ave on March the 6th. The end is near.

The other end that is near is my sweet Livi Ray’s babyhood. And this makes me so very sad. So very sad indeed. She will be 3 in June and I get a big lump in my throat when I think about it. So I try not to think about it often. She will go to pre-k next fall so I basically have a little more than a year and a half with her at home with me to be my buddy during the day. Even if I sometimes daydream about what it will be like to be all alone for 8 hours every day, my heart hurts at the very thought of it. How did this happen so fast? Soak it up, I tell my self. Soak up every.single.moment. until then.

If I Were President of the United States of America…..

I would just bite the bullet and upgrade my Lightroom. But I’m not and I have a really funny post to share today and I have to have some pictures for you to look at so I decided to do some outtakes from our "Christmas card session.” The 2 comedies will go well together :)

Every few months, James and Audrey’s class make a short little “book” about a subject they have been studying and they each get a turn to take it home for us to read. We have been so busy lately that homework barely gets done at night time so our nightly readings have been put on the back burner and I haven’t checked their book bags in over 2 weeks. Feeling rather guilty about being a slacker of late (and because when I got Audrey’s notebook out of hers I saw she had 40 million papers of drawings from herself and her little friends) so yesterday I went thru it. Glad I did cause I found the If I Were President book. We read it at the supper table last night since we were all there (1st time in over a week!) and we laughed and laughed. I absolutely LOVE the things kids can come up with!!

Here are my favorites but I will leave off the authors names that don’t belong to my two chill ins:

***If I were President of the United States of America I would make a law that you have to be 50 to ride in the back of a truck.

***If I were President of the United States I would be a leader! - Audrey Mizell

***If I were President of the United States of America I would make the Unite Stotes bigger bie bringing Inglin over here! - James Mizell

***If I were President of the United States I would free all the animals in the zoo.

I love Audrey’s cause instead of thinking of something she COULD do, she was thinking of what she’d BE. It’s like “If I were President, I’d be a leader, duh!”

And James, oh James!! We all cracked up laughing when his was read and he said “What?! They are our friends so why not?” And I wrote his down the exact way he wrote it cause I just love how they are trying their best to sound things out when they write on their own!! He did good!!

And could you imagine if all the animals were let out of the zoo??? Hahahaha!!! And I love to think about the how “he” got to the age of 50 to be allowed to ride in the back of a truck :)

Oops, J and O are out of focus

O, look this way while J says he’s tired of doing this
and A’s eyes are starting to glaze over!

Out of focus again, Mom! C’mon!

Dad says - Now put your arms like this….Aud must smell something bad
and wait!! You still have shoes on, take ‘em off!!!

Oh Olivia!!! Really???!!!

The last one is my favorite. James and Audrey look so sweet and lovely and then little O.R. down there has 3 chins, a flared nostrils and a wonky grin :)

Always Mama’s Little Helper

She behaved mama very well while I was priming the bedrooms this morning. She stayed in the doorways of the rooms when she would come to tell me something or get sassy with me and say she was gonna spank me if I didn’t come put her shoes on her right now. True story. I brought a little t.v. out there and her minnie mouse couch and tons of juice and snacks and that keeps her occupied for about an hour. Then she’s ready to bother help me or begs to go outside. I let her go on the little porch since I can hear her (she’s usually always singing these days) and she comes back in periodically to tell me something. When I was done, I took my buckets and brushes outside to rinse out and she wanted to help so bad that she picked up the roller cover and gave me a photo op I couldn’t pass up! I texted the pic to Nelda and she emailed it to me so I could blog it. So, thanks Nonie!!! And, who needs a smart phone when everyone else you know has one???!!!

Just a little something

This week has been crazy and it’s only going to get crazier. Tuesday afternoon late we had a church member to pass away suddenly. Any loss is sad but when there are young children involved, it just makes it that much harder. There was also another church member from one of our sister churches that passed away the same day so it’s been a week of loss around here. My uncle came and spent the night with us last night and we were up well past midnight and the night before we were up well past midnight since Jon was at the hospital with the family. I’m exhausted and I know he is too. We have the visitation for Bro. Jimmy tonight, the funeral tomorrow and that means I am going to miss the twins Valentines Day party at school :( but even though I am sad about that I know that it does’t even compare to the hurt and loss so many of our friends are experiencing right now. Life is so short and death is so cruel. I did get to go to the library for story time with Olivia today for their little Valentines’ celebration (good thing too since I was bringing the cookies and drinks!!) and it was fun. She had a blast, as she does with every little thing in her precious little world! I still had my camera set on RAW for most of the pictures I took but remembered right at the end to switch it over so I will share those two today.

Our life is so wild right now it’s hard for me to pick up my camera like I had been doing before Christmas. But gosh how I miss it!! Every time I hear that shutter click my heart races a little. I am ready for life to “get back to normal” for us :) Speaking of, we should be closing on our house on February 28th and Lord willing we will be moving on March 6th! I have gone through phases of being sad about leaving our current home of the last 5 years and being so excited to get to the new place I feel like I could bust! We are going to have some minor major adjustments coming our way with the “new” house. Like going from 5 large bedrooms spread through out the house to 3 moderate sized bedrooms so close to each other you could…..well lets just go with TOGETHERNESS will be our new family moto :) Not to mention we are going from 3 big bathrooms spread through out the house to 2 teeny ones side by side. Hey, at least there are 2!!! It’s rare to find 2 full bathrooms in a house that small so no serious complaints here!! But the trade off is the most beautiful, well establish yard out in the quiet country with a huge, beautiful sunroom and a family room with a huge window in the most perfect place to sit my computer at and be able to watch the children play to their hearts content OUTSIDE!!!! Oh and a laundry room that is it’s own room. No more having to pass through it to get to a bathroom. And a carport with a door that leads directly into the kitchen so no more getting wet unloading groceries or just getting out of the car and NO MORE having to walk up a flight of steps just to trip over toys trying to get to the kitchen with an arm full of groceries. Or children for that matter!

Till we meet again, my devoted 3 followers :)
