Thursday afternoon, as soon as Jon got home, we loaded the car and headed for Orlando. The kids were cranky because they hadn't had a nap, Jon was feeling like he was coming down with a cold and I had a serious bout of the morning sickness so, no one was real excited when we left. But after the kids slept for a while and my nausea left, we were a little more upbeat!! We finally got to our rotel about 9:30, checked in and all tried our best to get a decent nights rest. Jon did because he doped up on NyQuil and the kids did but I woke up about every two hours. Guess I was just excited!! Friday morning, just as soon as we could all get up, take a shower and get dressed, we jumped in the car and headed for the Magic Kingdom.
They loved riding the tram from the parking lot and the monorail into the Magic Kingdom.
They were so excited to finally be at Disney World and so were Jon and I. It took it a little while to finally sink in that we were actually there, I guess because we have been planning and talking about it for so long.
We headed straight for Fantasy Land to go ride all the rides Jon and I remember as kids. Peter Pan, Small World, Dumbo, Cinderella's Carousel....... Hind sight is 20/20. If I had been thinking like a 3 year old, I would of headed for Toone Town first but I guess we had to learn the ropes. The twins were slightly overwhelmed with everything Friday morning and were not familiar with the concept of waiting in line. (Disney World is not the place to break kids in for that. I'm just sayin.) We toughed it out because it is Disney World and our kids were not the only ones acting like kids that morning so, we went with it all smiles and laughter! We rode Peter Pan and they liked it but weren't thrilled. We only rode it once that day and Saturday the line was just too long by the time we made it over there. Probably if we had rode it again, they would of been more excited about it. Small World was better for them but again, they were just so overwhelmed with it all. Dumbo and Cinderella's Carousel were the hits of Friday morning!
We broke for lunch sometime around 11 and should of left after (or during) that......
But, we were trying to be wonderful parents and not let their crazy behavior affect our moods because we were, after all, at the happiest place on earth!!! And we wanted to squeeze every moment we could out of our time there. So, we headed over to Toone Town to see Minnie's house and meet some Princesses. Minnie's house was jam packed with people but I think they still had fun exploring.
After Minnie's house, we went to stand in line for the Princess's and after about 30 seconds I told Jon "We have to leave and go take naps." He didn't protest so we headed out. Of course, exiting the park is no easy task and we got side tracked a few times.
We stopped to see a parade on the way out and you see that smile on Audrey's face? (She was seeing Chip and Dale for the first time, actually it was the first character the poor child had seen all day.)That's the smile we had been looking for all morning and it occurred to me that we needed to concentrate on characters and forget all the other stuff for now. We did eventually leave to go back to the rotel for naps which was an uber smart call!

YAY! I knew you would come through. Checked the site about 10 times already today. LOVE the description...as always, you made me feel like I was there. Can't wait for part 2!
The pictures are FAB, but the best is James sacked out in the floor.
(Syd wants you to know that she is commenting with me...I just don't get people who constantly need credit)
Oh My-- Disney is so cool because EVERY PARENT AND CHILD in America has the same story!! Thank you for sharing your dream!!!
Sounds like a lot of fun! Love all the pictures!
Ha hahahaha...Oh Amanda...You've painted a picture of the sequel to National Lampoon vacation..."The Mizell's Trip to the Magic Kingdom"..
The pic of you and Audrey looking kinda dazed was an original for being at Disney...
THEN...TOTALLY...James' angry face over the french fries...then out on the floor takes the cake! (right on Becky!)
I know ya'll had fun and do look forward to ...the REST of the story (from our favorite writer)...
love u!!!
Nelda, that's so funny that you brought up National Lampoons because the whole trip Jon kept saying "Welcome to Wally World kids"!!!!
Oh, that we could enjoy these attractions without the masses of humanity. We took our GRANDboyZ on a Thomas the Train excursion in S. Georgia recently, and I just wanted to stand still and SCREAMMMMM from being jostled and pushed and ... I told them, from now on, we're going DEEP into the woods where no man hath set foot before. LOVE your pictures, 'manda, AND your commentary. I was laughing because I understand. Can't wait for next journal.
