You scream, I scream, we all scream.......

Sunday morning church service was not a very pleasant experience for me. Despite having to keep up with my twinkies and keep them fairly quiet(and out of the center aisle) during church for the last 12 months,(and most times y'all someone is either sitting with me or comes and gets one of them)they have been little angels in church. Seriously.Either we just had a bad day which can happen with kids or they have reached "that age". I was trying to be all optimistic about it but my sister kindly informed me that this was "the age" both of her kids started tormenting her in church. Oh great.
I know you are thinking "oh what could those precious angels have done that was so bad?" Well, first off they both wanted to be with me, in my lap. "Oh that's not so bad" you say. Well how about them not wanting to share my lap? James freaked out if I even thought about putting him on the floor. Audrey tried to jump over the back of the pew several times. James dumped the entire baggie of snacks on the floor and laughed. Audrey screamed, very loudly. I warned her not to do it again. James took Audrey's pap. Audrey screamed, very loudly. I warned her not to do it again. James threw a gold fish in the middle of the aisle and pitched a fit because I wouldn't let him go get it.(I may have been light headed from the cold I had (still have) but I ain't no dummy. That gold fish was just a ploy to escape down front!) Audrey would hit my nose with the corner of a book every time she wanted me to read it. James would look at Audrey. Audrey would scream, very loudly. 3 strikes and you're out Missy. James throws a ever living fit when I get up and walk out with Audrey. So my trusty side kick(Lynn) has to take him out to calm him down. I come back in with Audrey and we are back to square one, wanting only to sit in mommy's lap and NOT share it. Audrey screams, very loudly. OH MY WORD!!!! I warn her not to do it again. James starts wriggling making it very hard to keep them both in my lap and Audrey screams, very loudly.

That's it. I can't do it anymore. I know we are distracting the people behind us. I can hear some of them snickering and who can blame them? We were a circus. I'm sure some of them were thinking "When is she going to take them out? I can't concentrate on what the preacher is saying". So I took them out. Sometimes it's just not worth the fight. At least not at this age any way.I'll leave you with my husband's response to my morning to which only another preacher's wife can really understand: "Oh I'm so sorry honey. So, you didn't get to hear any of the sermon?"

I LOVE IT! Tell Jon to get you a copy of the tape...

I'm just wondering what you'll do when your octuplets are born.

Note to self: Do not try an international flight with Z Baby at 16 months.

Note 2 to self: Remember to invest in some Baby Benadryl. (I kid, I kid . . . I think)

I really really think I can top it. I so wish you could have seen the circus last week at Abbie's house for dinner starring Harrison, Isabella, Su, Ron, Will,Mawmaw, Mary C., and Little Miss, the hamster. Simultaneously, Little Miss tumbled down the stairs cause someone left the door open, Mawmaw was trying to get up to see, Harrison and Mary playing chopsticks on the piano, Isabella clinging to my hip, and Ron and I trying to attend all at once. It was so comical, even Abbie and Clayton had to laugh.

I will give you the words of wisdom my mom gave me a couple weeks back... "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven"- this is the time that the Lord has given to you to raise his little ones... the time will come when you will be able to hear the sermons again... until then, if there are recordings available try listening to them during the twins' naptime. And don't forget, PB's are a lot more tolerant than you realize. They know obedience doesn't happen over night!

Beck-I knew you would appreciate that! And if I hear the octo thing ONE more time......j/k!

Emily and Z baby-benadryl is a YES! and the international flight...well....I would strongly recommend not being in such close quarters for any length of time!

Auntie Em-I know it was a sight for everyone sitting behind me and I know you know exactly how I felt so it's okay, you can laugh!!

SydJo-if your mother would let you come live with me I wouldn't have these problems.....

SuSu-wish you could have gottn that scenario on tape! Sounds like a mesh pot!!

Kelly-thanks for the encouragement about Primitive Baptist's being tolerant. Some friends of mine after church told me not to fret because when it's your kids it's always magnified and they usually aren't as bad as you think. I don't know that I agree with that part but whatever! I have often thought of trying to down load sermons on to my ipod. I think I'll probably be doing that real soon!! I haven't heard a whole sermon in, well, I don't remember. But I do know that comes with the package!!

Been there.......x3......done that.....got the T shirt.......
or should I say T shirt(s)......
You're gonna make it through....just remember when YOU and Amy helped ME many moons ago with Bubba in Church when he was little!!!!! Now, he was a "handful".....and Shannon was only 3 years older than he was.....still wanting my attention too...........Memories ! If I could just go back in time! So, my advice for you, my dearie, is keep on with the discipline....and ENJOY every minute possible of it all ! You will look back one day, (like I do now) and wish to go through it all again! I promise!

You're doing a GREAT job, Amanda Grace.........it's "difficult" at times, but so worth it all ! You'll get to hear SO many sermons when they get all grown up.....

I LOVE YOU SOOOOOO much. God bless you in the wonderful job you are doing !

Just for the record....... after reading this........I'm smilin' right now !
